DOLLS AND FIGURES

I prefer hand sculpted dolls made from polymer clay to china ones made from moulds. A miniature person for the dolls house should have an individual appearance just as a real person has. Even if such dolls have imperfections compared to the beauty of a china doll they are still more true to real life.

My dolls have been sculpted from Fimo with stuffed felt bodies over wire armatures to give them some movement to pose them. At present I haven't made many dolls and haven't made any at all for several years. As soon as I can find time I am looking forward to making many more.

Not only do I enjoy making the dolls but also creating their clothing and hair styles.

Here are some I have made.

Victorian Evening Dress

Dressed in cream silk trimmed with lace, braid and ribbon and wearing jewellery with emeralds, ear-rings, necklace and ring. She has rich auburn hair done up in ringlets and decorated with a single pink ribbon rose and feather. She wears petticoats and bloomers and her shoes are light tan leather.

Another Victorian Evening Dress

I took this design from one in a local museum, The bodice is trimmed with fringing and lace.

She holds a lace fan.

Once again she wears petticoats and bloomers and has pink leather shoes.

Cook

Wearing a clean white apron over her striped dress. She also wears full underclothes but hers are plainer than the other dolls.

Her work boots are made of Fimo.

The mixing bowl and spoon are also made of Fimo
